Former Boxing Champion Joe Frazier Battling Cancer
Former world heavyweight boxing champion Joe Frazier is near death as he battles advanced liver cancer.
His personal and business manager said Saturday the 67-year-old boxer was diagnosed four or five weeks ago and is under hospice care.
Frazier won a gold medal for the United States at the 1964 Olympic Games before enjoying a successful pro career.
Frazier was the first man to beat Muhammad Ali, knocking him down and taking a decision in the so-called Fight of the Century in 1971.
He would go on to lose two more fights to Ali, including the epic 1975 “Thrilla in Manila” in the Philippines.
Frazier retired in 1976 with a record of 32 wins, 4 losses and 1 tie.
